nocco-photography: april 2012

Fernando Nocco was born in Lecce, Italy, in 1965 and grew up in several areas in Italy between the mountains and the sea where his love for nature transferred into a passion for photography. From 1985 until 1987 he studied photography at the I.E.D. in Rome where he developed his skills with large format cameras. He was the assistant of Giovanni Canitano in Rome, he had a studio in L'Aquila, dedicating his work mainly to architecture and interior design. For a long period he worked as a freelance professional. After exploring diverse professional experiences in Italy, Nocco followed his fascination for the northern lights bringing him first to settle in Amsterdam. Later, he extended his interest to other northern countries. He became especially fascinated by Iceland, photographing the beauty of her strong contrasts: water and stone, mountains and voids, fire and ice. Currently Nocco is focusing his studies on the aesthetic of water in his own environment to remind us of the importance of water as a source of life.
